Hebcelt, Tall Ships, Last Day at Stornoway

5 days in Stornoway, and I was the only harper. Plenty of great musicians to watch, jam with, learn tunes from, etc...The main stage was a bit noisy, but a fun party for the whole family. On the fringes was where the good action could be found. On Saturday the tall ships were in the harbor for an international race.
I needed to run thru my tunes, so decided to do a little busking in the town centre and over at the pier.
I made about 100 pounds (close to $200) in 1 and 1/2 hours. The lady at the gas station was thrilled when I filled my tank and paid with all coins.
These ladies approached me after the evening concert and said they had been watching me play harp at the ferry terminal and asked for a picture. Duhh....sure! I felt like a rock star.
A wild and sexy haggis adventure?
My little buddy at the campsite.
Garlic Prawinies
New friends
Try pronouncing that.
Dave is a walking encyclopedia of Scottish music and history, and a heck of a nice guy.
Dek and Craig from Yorkshire. I met them at the British Legion Hall Session the first night, and we bumped into each other all weekend. It is nice to see familiar faces in a foreign country. We had a blast every night.
A kilted camper.
Elevated tents at the campground.
I love it!
Saturday was the last day in Stornoway. 5 nights of sleeping in the car, I'm ready for a bed and indoor plumbing!

  1. I think you always wanted to be a rock star, and now you are one. Did you ever think that it would be with a harp?
