After a week on the Isle of Lewis and Harris, I headed back to Skye on the ferry to play a gig in Uig and do a little busking in Portree for walking money. I met a singer and we learned the Skye boat song while waiting in the ferry queue in Tarbert, and filmed it when we landed at the port in Uig. I'll post it soon.
Lighthouse, Isle of Harris from the ferry.
I actually saw some puffins from the boat. They wouldn't hold still for a photo.
It was about an hour and a half from Harris to Skye.
Arriving in Skye, port of Uig.
Skye looks pretty awesome no matter what the weather is like.
Most people wait for it to hit the ground before bagging it.
Instead of taking the bridge off of Skye, I wanted to see the Sound of Sleat, so I drove to Armadale and took a ferry across the Sound of Sleat to to Mallaig. Here are some pictures as I worked my way thru Skye to the ferry and across:
After Bonnie Prince Charlie's crushing defeat at Culloden in 1746, he fled to Skye across this sound in a boat, dressed like a chick (Skye Boat Song).
I have heard Mallaig called a "sleepy little drinking village with a fishing problem."
I stayed at "Hotel"
Nice Jaguar!
After spending the night in Mallaig, I got up and made a video of The Sound of Sleat at the Sound of Sleat. I plopped myself right in the middle of a patch of bracken, because I liked the view. Its amazing that I didn't come out covered in ticks.
This is from the bracken patch where I was sitting to make the video, looking out over the Sound of Sleat. The Isle of Eigg is on the left, Rhum on the right. Here are a couple more from the Mallaig side of the sound:

I found this place by accident. I caught a glimse of it from the road and had to make a quick U-turn and check it out.
On the road to the ferry to Mull. There are some pics of the plaques telling the story of the Jacobites last stand, followed by some pics from the spot.
Some more pics from the way to the Isle of Mull:
The grass here on River Ailhort must be particularly delicious.
This next one has to be one of my favorites. Earlier on this page I posted pictures of the Isles of Eigg (flat) and Rhum (more pointy and mountainous) from Mallaig across the Sound of Sleat, side bay side. This is the same two Islands hours down the road, now Eigg is directly in front of Rhum.
Cairns on the roadside.
